What's Holding Foster Programs Back

Strong foster programs may be the most effective tool shelters can have, but organizations that need these programs the most often face significant barriers, including:

  • Limited Time: In the current model, managing foster programs requires a substantial amount of time.

  • Limited Staffing: Many programs rely on volunteers, small teams, or a single staff member.

  • Complex Management: Without a centralized platform, coordinating foster management can be overwhelming due to the need to juggle multiple forms, software, platforms, and emails that don't communicate with each other, requiring manual updates across each system.

No Problem Too Big
No Kitten Too Small

Orphaned kittens who need to be bottle-fed overnight are a shelter's most vulnerable population because shelters don't have 24-hour staff.

Without a foster to take them in, unweaned kittens are often euthanized the day they are brought into a shelter.

FosterSpot equips fosters with the tools and knowledge to make sure every kitten gets a bottle and a chance at life.

Fostering a Better, Safer World for Animals and People

The SafeSpot Initiative

Fostering has been recently recognized as a powerful tool in the fight to help get domestic violence victims out of abusive environments. New partnerships and coalitions are being formed between rescue organizations and domestic violence organizations to help get people experiencing domestic violence and their pets out of harm’s way and to safety.

Key Data:
Domestic Violence and Pets

  • Only 17% of domestic violence shelters in the United States accept pets

  • 48% of victims surveyed indicated that they delayed leaving the relationship due to concerns about their animal

  • 52% of survivors in shelters reported having to leave their pets with their abusers

  • 37% reported pets had already been harmed or killed

  • 76% of respondents reported noticeable changes in their pets’ behavior as a result of abuse

The SafeSpot Initiative

FosterSpot's platform is well-equipped to seamlessly facilitate the growing life-saving movement of using foster homes to aid people fleeing domestic violence.

The SafeSpot initiative provides the software support to organizations and foster caregivers who want to help. FosterSpot provides its platform as a powerful tool to support the efforts of organizations working to keep animals and people safe.

By providing the digital framework for fostering as a tool to protect both animals and people from domestic violence, FosterSpot aims to attract more organizations, caregivers, and public support to the crucial need for animal care in helping people leave dangerous living environments.
